Zakeesh I. Khan
Manager, External Relations
Zakeesh Iqbal Khan has done her Masters in Mass Communication from Kinnaird College, following which she has been working as a Media and Communications Executive in Techlogix. She also has considerable national and international experience in the social sector-in a voluntary capacity, specifically in terms of advocacy and program design pertaining to women empowerment, education, skill-training and other development initiatives targeted towards youth. She is also Chairperson of the National Technical Committee on Women, Youth and Environment-FPAP. She is currently assisting the LUMS SSE team in its marketing and fundraising initiative.

Sarah Mahmood
Manager, University Development
Sarah did her Masters in Mass Communications and Bachelors in Journalism and Psychology, both from Kinnaird College. She has worked at WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) and Asiatic. She has also taught at the Lahore Grammar School. She joined the LUMS Science and Engineering Initiative Team initially as the Assistant Project Coordinator in 2004, but has since been promoted to the new role of university development manager.

Hajira Kureshi
Manager, University Development
Hajira Kureshi holds a BS and an MS in Computer Sciences from the Lahore University of Management Sciences, and also a BA in English Literature from Kinnaird College. Since 1997 she has been involved in various managerial and engineering roles in the local technology sector. She was the manager of the Quality Assurance department at Techlogix Ltd. till 2003, where she helped to define and implement ISO quality standards. Hajira has also been involved in voluntary work at Stanford University's Cantor Arts Museum, the Stanford Hospital and the United Nations' Association Film Festival. Her most recent undertaking was a compilation of the initial history of LUMS. She has joined the LUMS SSE team in the Admissions department.

Kiran Anwer
HR Executive
Kiran Anwar did her Masters in English Literature from Kinnaird College in 2005. Since then she has been working in the area of Human Resource management with a particular focus on recruitment. Before joining the LUMS SSE team, Kiran worked with a recruitment firm, SKP Consulting, where she assisted with servicing clients like Netsol, Descon, ICC Engineering and U-Fone. Kiran has also completed a core course of MBIT from the University of the Punjab.

Saima Haroon
HR Executive
Saima Haroon completed her B.Sc. (Hons.) degree from LUMS, with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Accounting & Finance. Graphic designing being her primary passion, she also loves dance, music, glass painting, netball and jiu-jitsu. She has also worked as a Web Developer at Arpatech Pvt. Ltd., Advanced Research Projects and Technologies. Prior experience includes serving as the President of the I.T. Society at her college and interning in the Technical Development Department of one of the top Internet Service Providers of Pakistan, Brain Telecommunication Ltd. She has been part of the LUMS Business Recorder Design Team and has also served as the publicity coordinator for the LUMS Art Society.

Zainab Siraj
Communications Execuitve
Zainab Siraj did her Masters in English Literature from Kinnaird College, Lahore. Following the completion of her degree she worked as Project Coordinator in a non-governmental organization, AGHS Legal Aid Cell. During this time she also worked in the capacity of Country Coordinator for a sister organization South Asians for Human Rights. She has joined the LUMS SSE team as Communications Executive.

Sana Siddiqui
Program Marketing Executive
Sana Siddiqui completed her LLB (Hons.) with a minor in Religious Studies from Lancaster University. She has always been passionate about horse riding and also plays polo. Her other interests include music, dance, traveling and writing. She was previously working with an NGO called Naya Jeevan for Kids, which has just launched in Pakistan and works there on a part time basis. Sana has always played an active role in community work and served as the publicity officer on the executive team of the UNICEF chapter in Lancaster, as well has other fund raising events for charities. She has joined the LUMS SSE team as the Program Marketing Executive.

Neeka Babar
Admissions Executive
Neeka did her Masters in Mass Communication from Kinnaird College in 2004. Her Bachelors was in Journalism and English Literature, also from Kinnaird College. She has worked at Mobilink where she responsible for Internal and External Marketing and Communications, and at the Beaconhouse Head Office, where she developed the English Language curriculum. She has also worked for Geo Television as a Production Associate.

Bilal Musharraf
Bilal Musharraf completed his B.S. in Actuarial Science from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 1994. After graduation, he worked five years as an actuarial analyst for AIB in Boston, pricing and reserving automobile insurance (1994-1999). In 2000 he joined Watson Wyatt Worldwide (NYSE: WW) in Boston as an actuarial consultant, providing liability valuation analysis of employee benefit plans (Medical, Pension, Options) to the Fortune 1000 companies. He is currently a 2007 dual degree MBA/MA(Education) candidate at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Stanford University School of Education.

Mohammad Ali Raja
Ali received his Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from UET Lahore, a Master's in Computer Science from LUMS and has substantial experience in designing, managing and delivering on complex construction projects. His company's designs were selected for the Zero-Point Monument of the Lahore Islamabad Motorway Project and the stainless steel monument on GT Road in Shadra. As a construction management expert, he has delivered on-time and on-budget, among others: the NHA Building at Queen's Road, the Lahore Mall Road Underpass Project, and establishment of one of Pakistan's largest rock quarries. He is currently managing his own construction company in London, and helping the LUMS SSE build its infrastructure.

Salal Humair
Salal Humair currently works as a Principal Software Engineer at Optiant, Inc. (Boston, MA), a technology startup founded at MIT and focused on supply-chain design and optimization. He obtained his PhD and MS in Operations Research from MIT, an MS in Civil Engineering from MIT, and a BS in Civil Engineering from UET Lahore. His Master's research was on formulating conceptual design as a constraint satisfaction problem; doctoral research on yield management for telecommunications and his current work is in supply chain optimization. He has worked at CS First Boston, and interned at GTE Laboratories, IBM's T.J. Watson Research Center, Schlumberger Austin Product Center, and Lucent Technologies, Bell Laboratories. He has also had significant teaching experience during graduate school as Head Teaching Assistant for a large undergraduate computing course at MIT.

Sohaib Khan
Sohaib Khan did his PhD in Computer Science from University of Central Florida and his BS in Electronic Engineering from GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Topi. He is currently Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science, Lahore University of Management Sciences. His research interests lie in the fields of computer vision, image processing and pattern recognition. In particular he has done recent work on tracking and surveillance, video segmentation, face processing and video geo-registration. He has received more than Rs. 3.5 million as a research grant from a public sector organization for work on image registration. He is also providing consulting in the computer vision area to local public and private organizations. He has published more than ten journal and conference publications and has two book chapters to his credit. Dr. Khan was the recipient of Hillman Fellowship for excellence in graduate research, UCF (2001) and also received the merit-based Graduate Enhancement Fellowship, UCF (2000 and 2001).

Syed Talha Imam
Syed Talha Imam is currently a final year B.Sc. (Hon.) student at LUMS, working on a major in Accounting and Finance and a minor in Economics. He completed his A-levels from Saint Patrick’s High School, Karachi. At LUMS, he was placed on the Dean's Honors List for the first three years. Talha enjoys sports and was part of the school's basketball and volleyball team. At college, he was part of the Debating and Dramatics Society. He actively participates in social work and was part of the Care 'n' Share society at his college. His work experience includes internships at Unilever Pakistan Limited, where he worked under Finance and Sales, at Ford Rhodes Sidat Hyder & Co. (partners of Ernst and Young Global) under Audit and at Telenet under customer service. At LUMS, Talha is serving as a student volunteer, helping in several activities associated with the SSE.

Zeeshan Syed
Zeeshan Syed received his S.B. and M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT in 2003. He is currently at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, working towards a Ph.D. His research interests span the domain of using computers to improve contemporary healthcare, with a focus on low-cost software solutions for developing countries. He is actively involved in a number of projects in association with clinical experts from Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, and holds a patent for his work in the area of automated auscultation and prototypical biological signal analysis. He is the recipient of the William A. Martin and Morris J. Levin awards in recognition of his research at MIT, and was featured in the 2003 MIT Technovators list of top innovators. He is a member of Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, Sigma Xi and the International Society for Philosophical Enquiry. He is also on the panel of experts consulting the PSEB on bioinformatics outsourcing and occasionally contributes articles to newspapers on higher education initiatives.

Shoa Malik
Consultant, Graphic Design
Shoa Malik, currently providing consultancy services in graphic design under the name SHOAWORKS, is an NCA (National College of Arts) graduate with graphic designing and photography as major and minor subjects respectively. She has been a Scholarship holder throughout the course and received the ‘Chughtai award’ for excellence spanning four academic years. Prior to venturing into private consultancy, she was heading the Multimedia department at Techlogix (Pvt.) Ltd., and was part of their setup for four years. Earlier, she gained experience in the world of advertising by working with one of the leading advertising agencies of Pakistan, Evernew Concepts (Pvt.) Ltd.
Her predilection towards art makes poetry, classical music, painting, sketching her cherished interests.

Habib Fida Ali
Principal Architect
Mr. Habib Fida Ali of Habib Fida Ali Architects has been the project architect for the Lahore University of Management Sciences since its inception and now for the new School of Science and Engineering. The firm’s involvement with the project and its scope of services includes concept design, strategic planning, design development, and coordination. Mr. Habib Fida Ali established his practice in 1965 and has since been considered one of the best-known architects in Pakistan. With an extensive experience in Architecture Design, Interior Design, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture and Project Management. He has won many design competitions and awards during his practice. For nearly four decades his firm has been called upon to engage in projects that include government office buildings, educational, corporate facilities and private residences. A commitment to design, quality, innovation, and delivery is illustrated in all his projects. His many honors and distinctions include receiving well-published acknowledgement in both local and international magazines of repute. His private house has been published in Architectural Digest (USA) - 1981. He was the first Pakistani on the Aga Khan Award for Architecture, Master Jury. His first commercial project the Pakistan Burma Shell Building received a gold medal for the best building since partition from Karachi Development Authority. He is an Associate of Royal Institute of British Architects. Habib Fida Ali has also received the lifetime achievement award by Institute of Architects Pakistan.

Faisal Haroon
Architect
Faisal Haroon has six years experience as an architect and real-estate developer in Pakistan. Faisal established and managed the design studio and project management divisions of Eden Developers, one of the larger and more reputable real-estate development
companies in Pakistan. Faisal has since built a successful private architecture and construction management practice, which he combines with a Lectureship in Architecture at the National College of Arts. Faisal has a B.A. in Architecture from National College of Arts and an M.A. in Architecture from McGill University.

Shehzad Feerasta
Shehzad Feerasta is currently completing his undergraduate studies from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and will have his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 2009. He worked as an internee at the SSE during Summer 2007, and did research work to create the financial aid form, which is part of the SSE admissions package. His hard work and friendly attitude has proved him to be a great member of the LUMS SSE team.

Saad Ahsan
Syed Mohammad Saad Ahsan is currently completing his A'levels from Aitchison College, Lahore. He interned at SSE during the summer of 2007. His work comprised of mainly scouting information on various institutions both in and out of Pakistan in order to solicit high achieving students from around the world. He cherishes his experience at the SSE as it greatly co to the growth of his character.

Attiya Noon
Project Assistant
Attiya Noon was a BSc. Honours student at LUMS before transferring to the International University Bremen where she acquired an undergraduate degree in History. She has worked for the Punjab Rural Support Program where she evaluated the work being done by their subsidiary Village Education Committees. She also worked as an assistant to the Director of Campus Activities, and as a student assistant in a residence hall of the International University Bremen. Attiya is a keen debater, has represented Pakistan at international debating tournaments, and has served two terms as the President of the Debating Society at her university. She was also on the editorial board of the university literary magazine and newspaper.

Hamza G. Mohmand
Communications Executive
Hamza Ghaffar Mohmand has done his Bachelors in Social Sciences, with a Minor in Economics, from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). His previous experience includes internships at SHELL Pakistan, PICIC Commercial Bank, the Consumer Rights Commission of Pakistan, and Muslim Commercial Bank. He has considerable experience in the development sector, engaging in systematic research and analysis, and has written comparative development theses on Latin American, African, and Asian countries. He wrote his Senior Project thesis on the Prospects of Democratization in Pakistan. He has also engaged in volunteer relief work at the Edhi Foundation and the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad after the recent earthquake. He is currently assisting the SSE Project team in communications, publishing the quarterly newsletter, external relations and fundraising.

Mariam Qureshi
Communications Executive
Mariam graduated from National College of Arts in the year 2005 in Fine Arts. Her major was printmaking. She has been writing on art and culture for Daily Times prior to her graduation and is currently also an art and culture editor for a fashion magazine called GEN_Y. She has freelanced for various newspapers and magazines over the past four years. Mariam has also worked for the Research and Publication Centre (RPC) in the National College of Arts, where she was the assistant managing editor for two years. Her interests include reading, writing and printmaking.

Salman Ahsan
Associate Project Director
Dr. Salman Ahsan did his PhD and MA in Electronic Materials and Devices at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Princeton University and his BS in Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. His interests during graduate studies centered upon the study of surface and interface properties of compound semiconductors, particularly the ZnSe/GaAs interface due to its importance in the development of a blue laser. He built Princeton’s first scanning tunneling microscope, a new technique at the time, as the primary analysis tool for this work. At Princeton, he also acquired several semesters of teaching experience as a preceptor working with the Nobel laureate (in physics), Prof. Daniel C. Tsui. His work experience includes brief stints at Drexelbrook Engineering (as a summer intern), Philips Research Laboratories (part of doctoral dissertation), The Center for Sensor Technologies (as an NSF fellow) and Nova R&D, Inc. Predominantly though, he has been with Linear Technology Corporation, a semiconductor company specializing in analog integrated circuits, as a process development, device and integration engineer and more recently as a manager of yields and electrical test.

Mahvash Khan
Undergraduate Admissions' Coordinator
Mahvash Khan completed her B.Sc. (Hons) in Business Information Systems from Leeds Metropolitan University, UK, in 2005. She has worked as Executive Coordinator at TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs), a non-profit organization that promotes entrepreneurship worldwide. She has been managing the office of TiE Lahore based at LUMS, coordinating projects with CEOs and Industrialists in Pakistan and 44 TiE Chapters across the world, organizing workshops, seminars and other entrepreneurial events. She has also worked with Monsoon Accessorize London, Watershed Packing Ltd. Leeds and GE Capital Bank Leeds in the UK. Her core strengths include a good grasp of IT skills including web designing, systems analysis and database development, customer relationship management, team working and event management.
